Abstract There has been a severe devaluation in school library services in Canada in the past three to five years. Doiron and Paul discuss some of the major problems facing school libraries, including the removal of teacher-librarian positions and the elimination of the teaching role in the school library, using clerical workers to run libraries, and severe budget cuts.
