| Abstract | Eimeria bubonis n.sp. and Caryospora bubonis n.sp. both from Bubo virginianus from Saskatchewan, Canada, are described. E. bubonis differs from E. speotytoi and E. strigis in having shorter and narrower sporulated oocysts (22.8 plus or minus 2.7 mu m long and 21.7 plus or minus 2.4 mu m wide) with a clear outer wall, a prominent conoid at the anterior end of the sporozoite and the lack of an oocyst residuum. C. bubonis differs from C. henryae in its larger sporulated oocyst (26.6 plus or minus 3.4 mu m long and 25.6 plus or minus 2.4 mu m wide) which lacks a polar granule.. |
