| Abstract | A unique synthetic route to cyclopentadienyliron complexes of functionalized nitrobenzene,e.g., I (e.g., R = Et),was developed via the successive oxidn. of the amine and the alkyl groups of their corresponding aniline complexes utilizing hydrogen peroxide. Nucleophilic arom. substitution reactions of the nitroarene iron complexes I (e.g., R = CHMe2) with a no. of nucleophiles, e.g., PhSO2CH2CN and HS(CH2)6SH, gave rise to monoiron II and diiron complexes III, resp., with various alkyl and keto substituents.
