Abstract The article discusses a study which investigated the link between food consumption and the risk of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in children and youth in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The study included 57 T1D patients who were diagnosed between 2001 and 2004, and 105 control. Their food consumption and the potential environmental and genetic risks were analyzed using questionnaires and survey. The study concluded that diet may influence the development of T1D.
