Dave Cormier

Title: Manager, Web Communications and Innovations

Dave Cormier is currently Manager of Web Communications and Innovations at the University of Prince Edward Island; his responsibilities include web planning, web communications, and the sponsoring and development of innovative new web projects for Higher Education. He is also a speaker on open education and the impact of technology on collaboration and higher education.

He is the co-manager of Edtechtalk.com, a community of live webcasters that has recorded over 1200 live webcasts since 2005. His major research area, rhizomatic learning, developed out of his experiences with informal learning in online educational projects. The concepts underpinning rhizomatic learning have appeared in his work with Massive Open Online Courses as well in the design of courses taught inside the formal education system.
