| Abstract | A Bitis gabonica which died in the University of Ibadan Zoo, Nigeria, was found to have severe degenerative and inflammatory lesions of the respiratory epithelium with consequent excessive production of mucus, infiltration by inflammatory cells and accumulation of exudate in the alveolar and infundibular spaces of the affected part of the lung. Sections of helminths found free in the lesions and within the respiratory epithelium were identified as belonging to the family Rhabdiasidae.. |
