| Abstract | In a test of the temporal adaptation concept, the usual adaptation procedure was altered to one in which the adapting frequency was varied within, while the test frequency was varied across experiment sessions. At each test frequency the average modulation threshold increased and then declined as adapting frequency increased; the adapting frequency which maximally raised the test modulation threshold tended to increase as test frequency increased. |
