|Abstract||Atlantic salmon (4.7+or-0.2 g body weight) were fed to appetite 3 times daily on diets containing 1.15, 1.40, 1.65, 1.90, 2.15, 2.40 and 2.65% lysine (as-fed basis) for 70 days. Broken-line regression of growth values against dietary lysine level estimated the dietary requirement of lysine to be 1.99% of the dry diet or 3.98% of the protein at 50% protein in the diet. A similar requirement value of 1.84% was estimated from a broken-line regression of expired 14CO2 (following an intraperitoneal injection of L-(U-14C)lysine) against dietary lysine concentration. Except for loss of appetite resulting in low feed intake and decreased growth, no nutritional deficiency signs were seen in fish fed on a lysine-deficient diet for 10 days..|
